“A flying prison, gigantic T-Rex robots wearing top-hats, mind control, a villainous assault on the heroes’ home, murder, mayhem, intrigue… it was a fun series that was unfortunately cancelled before the pay off. Using the brain of Everseer, harvested after Syndrome killed the hero, Xerek created a machine that projected the future - allowing the villain to manipulate events perfectly.” Incredible turned away Buddy, Xerek began mentoring the angry child. But he was ancient and tired, and by the timeline of the comics, his mission was to finally die - and take the world with him.” “Xerek’s super power was that he would always win. The villain was over two-hundred years old - his life artificially renewed regularly through cruel scientific methods - he once used a machine to murder everyone born on a specific day to make himself younger.” “The story of Xerek was also not published - though it was written. Walker did give a few other tidbits related to Xerek on Twitter, including the reason for his decrepit appearance.

Xerek seeks to destroy the reputations of the Incredibles in the next comic, “City of Unforgivables,” but unfortunately, we will never know of Xerek’s masterplan as the comics were cancelled after this issue. Incredible, and though he seeks to destroy the Incredibles’ lives, he spends his first appearance in the comic book (“Secrets and Lies”) trying to get Helen to admit that she wasted her life by marrying Bob Parr and come back to him.Īs the Wiki page for Xerek states, “He was a boyfriend of Helen before she learned of his activities and she was nearly subjected to becoming a source of energy for another life-extension experiment, which has since lead to Xerek’s true age revealing itself.”Īt the end of “Secrets and Lies,” Xerek is captured and sent to prison, where The Unforgivables, sent to prison by the Parrs in the previous comics, wait for him to lead them to victory. He dated Elastigirl before her marriage to Mr. Walker said in a tweet, Xerek “was conceived of by Pixar, and then recreated by me.”Īs he appears in the comics, Xerek is the short, decrepit-looking leader of the Unforgivables, a coalition of supervillains.

Later, we learned more about Xerek when he was picked up by the Boom Comics series, though it’s necessary to remember that we have no idea whether or not the details below were in Brad Bird’s plans for the original character, of whom we have no information. It seems clear that Mirage and Xerek were romantically involved, which may have factored into the allusions to her relationship with Syndrome in the final product, and some of the original concept art is borderline erotic.Įventually, of course, Xerek was scrapped completely, and Syndrome was made the primary antagonist. To the left we see Xerek shooting a ray and Mirage driving the flying vehicle. As we can see Violet and Dash in the air, this was likely made when the storyline still involved Bob being the only member of the Parr family who couldn’t fly. The piece below was created March of 2001. He bears little resemblance to the final clay character model, and yet in the same year, we get a couple glimpses of a Xerek who does look more like that tall, suave version:īy 20, the design seemed to be solidified in this form: These are the earliest designs that have been released were in 1998, as these two were. I’ve tried to organize the pieces in chronological order to show his progression as best I could. In fact, some of the concept art shows Xerek looking almost literally alien in comparison. He’s tall, thin, suave and sophisticated, however, we know from the Art of the Incredibles book that Xerek didn’t always have this form.

We can also assume that since the other clay models match the characters in the movie almost exactly, this was Xerek’s final physical form.

The fact that Xerek had a clay model suggests that the villain swap probably occurred quite late in the development phase. When Brad mentions Xerek on the DVD, we see his 3D clay character model on screen. His name was Xerek, and he was used until it was determined that Syndrome was a more compelling character. In The Incredibles special features and in the Art of the Incredibles book, Brad Bird mentions his original pitch for movie featured a different villain.
